A. 
There shall be created the position of Election Director who shall be appointed by the Mayor subject to the approval of the Municipal Council and shall have an employment contract and shall not be eligible to be a member of any union.
B. 
Duties and responsibilities shall be as follows:
(1) 
Administers municipal, state, and federal elections within the City of Taunton.
(2) 
Handles the registration of voters, proper maintenance of voters' records, and manages the annual City census.
(3) 
Works with the Board of Election Commissioners to ensure that elections are properly managed and conducted.
(4) 
Promotes voter registration and participation in the election process.
(5) 
Perform such other duties as may be required.
