It shall be the duty of the owner or owners of any dwelling
house, store, or other building erected or which may hereafter be
erected and located upon any street or public alley of the Borough
of Red Lion now designated or which may be hereafter designated on
the York County Tax Map to cause correct numbers to be placed and
maintained upon said dwelling houses, stores, and other buildings;
said numbers shall be of such size and shall be placed or affixed
as to be plainly visible from the sidewalk of the street upon which
said houses, stores, or other buildings are erected but in no event
less than four inches high and with a stroke width of less than 1/2
inch.

Every such owner or owners of a dwelling house, store, or other
building erected or to be erected upon any street or public alley
of said Borough shall apply to and obtain from the Borough Manager
the proper number of numbers applicable to and designating said dwelling
house, store, or other building.

It shall be the duty of the Borough Manager and he is hereby
authorized and empowered and directed by order of the same to number
and renumber the dwelling houses, stores, and other buildings as aforesaid
and shall prepare, keep, and maintain suitable maps, plans, charts,
and records showing the numbers applicable to, allotted or assigned
to any such dwelling house, store, or other building of such applicant,
and said Manager shall keep a proper record of all numbers so assigned.

1. In numbering buildings, 100 numbers shall be allowed to each full
block as laid out on the York County Tax Map. All lots or plots of
ground with a frontage of 16 feet or less shall be assigned one number;
all lots or plots of ground having a frontage of more than 16 feet
shall be assigned one or more numbers. The properties on streets,
avenues and public alleys crossing or terminating in Broadway shall
be numbered north and south from Broadway, and the properties on all
streets, avenues, and public highways terminating north and south
of Broadway shall be numbered by beginning at the termination nearest
Broadway and numbering north and south according as the streets, avenues,
and public alleys to be numbered may be located north and south as
aforesaid. The numbering of properties on streets, avenues, and public
alleys terminating in or crossing Main Street shall be numbered east
and west from Main Street, and the properties on all streets, avenues,
and public alleys terminating east and west of Main Street shall be
numbered by beginning at the termination nearest Main Street and numbering
east and west according as the streets, avenues, and public alleys
to be numbered may be located east and west as aforesaid. In numbering
from Broadway and Main Streets, the numbers shall begin with "1."
2. The numbers shall be assigned as follows: the even numbers on the
right-hand sides of streets, avenues, and public alleys going east
and south and on the left-hand sides of streets, avenues, and public
alleys going west and north from the starting point and the odd numbers
on the left-hand sides of streets, avenues, and public alleys going
east and south and on the right-hand sides of streets, avenues, and
public alleys going west and north from the starting point.

Any person violating or failing or refusing to comply with any
provision of this Part, upon conviction thereof, shall be sentenced
to a fine of not more than $1,000 plus costs and, in default of payment
of said fine and costs, to a term of imprisonment not to exceed 30
days. Each day that a violation of this Part continues or each section
of this Part which shall be found to have been violated shall constitute
a separate offense.
