There are no sections in Article 121, which has been established
to provide a place for any future legislation.
The City operates under provisions of the Third Class
City Code (Act of June 28, 1951, P.L. 662, as amended). The Codified
Ordinances constitute an extension of the powers and duties granted
to the Third Class cities by the General Assembly in the Third Class
City Code.
The City has the following elective officials: Councilmen,
the Mayor, the Controller and the Treasurer. Major appointive officials
include the Solicitor, the City Clerk, the City Engineer, the Development
Administrator, the Committing Magistrate, the Commissioner of Safety,
Public Welfare and Law Enforcement, the Superintendent of Highways,
the Superintendent of Water and the Superintendent of Sewers. The
Mayor is Director of the Department of Public Affairs and a Councilman
is director of one of the four other executive departments.
