[Added by Ord. No. 1584-99]
A.
In recent years there has been a proliferation in the waterfowl population in the Northeast; and waterfowl, and in particular geese, carry several types of bacteria which can prove harmful to humans and to fish populations. Several states, including Pennsylvania, have enacted statutes prohibiting the feeding of ducks and geese on state property due to health concerns.
B.
The Lawrence Township Council seeks ways in which to reduce the waterfowl population in municipal parks, most particularly in Colonial Lake Park where the goose population is a considerable problem.
The feeding of waterfowl on municipal parkland is hereby prohibited; and notice of this prohibition and notice of this prohibition shall be prominently placed in appropriate locations on park property.
Violators of this section shall be subject to a fine not to exceed $500.
