A. 
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
ANTISEPTIC
Any substance which will inhibit the growth and multiplication of microorganisms without necessarily killing them.
BOARD, THIS BOARD, SAID BOARD, THE BOARD OF HEALTH, THE LOCAL BOARD OF HEALTH, THE LOCAL BOARD
The Board of Health of the Borough of Haddon Heights.
CLEANSING
The thorough removal of dust and other contaminating material in such a way as to prevent the entry thereof, as far as may be possible, into other rooms or dwellings; washing with soap and hot water; scouring, airing and exposure to sunlight.
COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
(See Article III, § 496-8).
CONTACT SUSPECT
Any person who has been sufficiently near or exposed to any infected person to make probable the transmission of an infectious or causative agent to such person.
DISINFECTANT
Any chemical substance or agent which will destroy disease-producing microorganisms.
DISINFECTION
The process of destroying the vitality of the disease-producing organisms by physical or chemical means.
FOOD
(See Article VII, § 496-54).
GERMICIDE
Any substance which will kill microorganisms.
HEALTH
Public health.
HEALTH OFFICER
That person selected for that office by the Haddon Regional Health Commission and by this municipality.
ISOLATION
(1) 
The separation of persons or animals suffering from a communicable disease, or carriers of the infectious organisms, from other persons, animals or insects in such places as will prevent the direct or indirect conveyance of the infectious agent to susceptible persons.
(2) 
The separation of persons or animals which have come in contact with persons, insects or animals afflicted with infectious or communicable diseases. This "isolation" shall not apply to the attending physician nor to the attending graduate nurse.
LICENSE
The formal written permission to perform certain acts or carry on a certain business embodied in the document granting such permission, issued by the Board in accordance with its rules and regulations and this chapter.
MILK, MILK PRODUCTS
(See Article VI, § 496-45).
MUNICIPALITY, OF THIS MUNICIPALITY
The Borough of Haddon Heights.
PERMIT
Temporary permission in writing to cover the doing of a single act or a series of acts, which may be revoked by this Board at any time although the act or acts for which the permit was granted have not been completed.
PERSON
Any person or persons, corporation or association of persons, and "he," "his," or "him" shall include those of the female sex.
QUARANTINE
The confining of persons, animals or materials within a designated area and excluding other persons, animals, insects or materials from such area.
SALE
Every delivery of food whether the same be by direct sale or the solicitation or acceptance of an order for food, and including exchange, barter, traffic in, keeping and exposing for sale, displaying for sale, serving with meals, delivering for value, peddling, possessing with intent to sell; the gratuitous delivery or gift of any food by any licensee or person to whom a food certificate has been issued, or by any other person.
SANITARY or SANITATION
That degree of cleanliness which will promote health and well-being.
SANITIZATION
The process of rendering eating or drinking utensils free from disease bacteria and so clean and disinfected as to have a total bacterial count of not more than 100 per utensil when sampled in accordance with approved methods in an approved laboratory.
STATE SANITARY CODE
The Sanitary Code enacted by the Department of Health of the State of New Jersey.
STERILIZATION
The destruction of all microbial life on or in an object.
B. 
Any definition herein contained shall apply to the same word in any other form. Example: "Sell" means to make a "sale" as above defined.
It shall be lawful for any member of this Board, the Health Officer, Inspector or any person acting under and by the authority of this Board to enter in or upon any premises for any of the purposes specified in this chapter or for any other purpose in connection with his regular duties.
A. 
This Board shall have the right to revoke any permit or license whenever the holder thereof or any of his servants or agents violates the terms under which the same was issued. Before any license or permit shall be revoked, a notice of the contemplated action of this Board shall be served upon the holder of said license or permit, setting forth such charges as may be the reason for the said revocation and the place, date and hour when said Board will hear the matter.
B. 
Whenever any licensee or permittee shall violate the terms under which said license or permit was issued, this Board or the Health Officer shall have the right to suspend the operation of said licensee or permittee pending the hearing.
All licenses or permits shall be prominently displayed upon the premises for which they are issued, and upon each and every vehicle or device used in the business for which a license or permit is required, there shall be displayed at all times in plain sight, upon each side of said vehicle or device, a current license or permit sign to be furnished by this Board.
Every holder of a license or permit shall exhibit same upon demand to any member of this Board, the Health Officer or other authorized representative of this Board.
