A. 
Volunteer fire fighters and fire companies in the Village of Colonie. The real property owned by a volunteer member of the Village Fire Department and the real property owned by any Volunteer Fire Company in the Village shall be exempt from taxation for Village purposes to the extent of $500 of assessed value in addition to any other exemption authorized by law. For purposes of this subsection, "volunteer fire fighter" shall have the meaning designated in the Volunteer Firefighters' Benefit Law.[1]

B. 
The Chief of the Village Fire Department shall certify to the Board of Trustees the members of the Village Fire Department on or before January 15 of each successive year following the effective date of this section.
C. 
The Chief of the Village Fire Department shall notify the Board of Trustees immediately whenever a member of the Village Fire Department shall cease to be a member of such Village Fire Department.
