Pursuant to the provisions of Section 1603 of
the Vehicle and Traffic Law of the State of New York, as amended,
the Police Department of the Incorporated Village of Rockville Centre
is hereby authorized to designated safety zones, parking spaces, and
bus, cab or taxicab stands, respectively, in the public streets or
highways of said Village and in parking fields or spaces either owned,
operated or controlled by the said Village, and to limit or prohibit
parking in spaces and zones in said public streets, highways and parking
fields or spaces, and to cause such zones, spaces and stands to be
marked and indicated by suitable signs, and all drivers and operators
of vehicles shall obey the rules and regulations prescribed by the
said Police Department for such zones, spaces and stands.
It shall be unlawful for any person to park or leave standing any automobile, wagon, motor vehicle or other vehicle in the public streets, highways, parking fields or spaces or safety zones in said Village other than those designated by the said Police Department, and/or for a longer period of time or as prohibited by the rules and regulations prescribed by the said Police Department as authorized in §
309-45 of this article. It shall be a violation of the provisions of this article for any person to park, cause, allow, permit or suffer any vehicle registered in the name of or operated by such person to be parked or left standing as prohibited by this article.
Any person violating any provisions of this
article shall be liable for and pay a penalty or fine not exceeding
$10 for the first offense and not more than $25 for the second offense
and not more than $100 for the third offense, and in addition thereto
each of said violations shall constitute and is hereby declared to
be disorderly conduct, and any person violating the same shall be
and is hereby declared a disorderly person.
