These general rules shall apply to all public
tennis courts operated by the City of Ventnor City.
The following general rules shall apply to all
public tennis courts at all times:
A. Players shall observe proper tennis etiquette at all
times.
B. Court attendants and tennis professionals hired by
the City of Ventnor City are in complete charge of the courts and
have the right to eject any person for actions that are offensive
or detrimental to the well-being of other players on the courts.
C. Only players are permitted on the courts.
D. Chairs shall not be permitted upon the courts or within
the perimeter of the mesh fence.
E. Profane language and the drinking of alcoholic beverages
are prohibited within any tennis court complex, and, likewise, food
and soft drinks are not permitted on the courts.
F. Sneakers or tennis shoes must be worn on the courts,
and proper tennis attire must otherwise be worn.

G. No dogs are permitted in or around the tennis court
complex.
H. Persons must play in a manner so as not to interfere
with players on adjoining courts. Players on any one court shall limit
the number of tennis balls in play at any one time to four balls.

Public tennis court reservations shall be in
effect during that period designated by the Ventnor City Board of
Commissioners, which designation shall be made on a yearly basis no
later than April 15 of said year. During this period, the following
rules and regulations shall apply:
A. All reservations must be made between 9:00 a.m. and
closing.
B. Reservations must be written or confirmed by the attendant.
C. Reservations are limited to two hours per day.
D. Reservations must be paid for in advance.
E. No reserved courts can be canceled. In the event of
rain, rain checks will be given to those with reserved courts.
F. Reserved courts will be held for 20 minutes after
the hour. In the event that the scheduled player does not arrive within
said period, the court will be lost by the reserved party for that
hour and no money shall be refunded. If said court is reserved for
a two-hour period, the court shall be held for a period of 1/2 hour
before forfeiture of the court and the money paid for said reservation.

All courts shall open at 8:00 a.m. and remain
open until 8:00 p.m. If the facilities have appropriate lighting,
and it is deemed advisable by the Ventnor City Board of Commissioners
to extend the closing time, then it shall be within its determination
to do so.
The City of Ventnor City is authorized to engage
one or more teaching professionals so as to establish a comprehensive
tennis program, With the exception of such teaching professionals
as the City of Ventnor City may hire, instruction for profit on any
public tennis court within the City of Ventnor City shall be prohibited.
In the case where instructions are given on a free basis, the individual
or individuals desiring to do so, while using the Ventnor City public
tennis courts, must first seek approval from the Ventnor City Board
of Commissioners.
They City of Ventnor City reserves the right
to establish such other rules and regulations from time to time as
may be necessary for the proper operation of the tennis courts.
The Ventnor City Board of Commissioners reserves
the right to amend such rules and regulations whenever an appropriate
change shall be brought before it by the Ventnor City Recreation Board.
