A. 
Parking meter zones are hereby established upon those streets and highways, or parts thereof, described in Schedule XVII (§ 90-56).
B. 
Parking meter zones may be established by resolution of the Village Board in any part or portion of an off-street public parking lot or area which is owned, leased or maintained by the Village.
C. 
Prepaid parking meter zones are hereby established at a rate set by resolution of the Board of Trustees at designated meters on those streets and highways, or parts thereof, described in § 90-56.1 Schedule XVIIA: On-Street Prepaid Parking Meter Zones. (Note: Time limits set forth in § 90-53, Schedule XIV: Limited-Time Parking, do not apply to Village of Pelham prepaid parking permit holders.)

The Chief of Police shall be responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, policing and supervision of parking meters in the Village.
A. 
Installation.
(1) 
Pavement marking shall be applied, where practicable, outlining parking spaces in the parking meter zones established in this Article.
(2) 
Parking meters shall be installed immediately adjacent to the parking spaces.
(3) 
No parking spaces shall be applied at, nor meters installed adjacent to, locations where parking, standing or stopping is prohibited pursuant to § 1202 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law or by this or any other law of the Village where parking spaces are in conflict with such prohibitions.
B. 
Operation.
(1) 
Each parking meter shall operate so as to indicate that the appropriate fee has been deposited in such meter.
(2) 
Each parking meter shall display a signal indicating the expiration of the time period associated with the deposit of fees.
A. 
Deposit of fee required.
(1) 
No person shall park a vehicle in a parking space of any parking meter zone adjacent to a parking meter during the hours of parking meter operation unless the appropriate fee is immediately deposited in such meter.
(2) 
No person shall park a vehicle in a parking space of any parking meter zone adjacent to a parking meter during the hours of parking meter operation while such meter is displaying a signal indicating the expiration of the time period associated with the deposit of fees.
B. 
Legal currency required. No person shall deposit or attempt to deposit in any parking meter any slug, button or any other device or substance as substitutes for coins of United States currency.
C. 
Injury to meters. It shall be unlawful for any person to deface, injure, tamper with, willfully break, destroy or impair the usefulness of, or to open without lawful authority, any parking meter.
The parking of motor vehicles in on-street parking meter zones is hereby prohibited for a longer period of time than that indicated in Schedule XVII (§ 90-56) between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on any day except Sundays and holidays.
The fees for use of the parking meter zones established pursuant to this Article shall be as set from time to time by resolution of the Board of Trustees. The schedule of fees shall be kept on file in the office of the Village Clerk.
