[HISTORY: Adopted by the Town Board of the Town of Plattekill 10-3-2001 by L.L. No. 2-2001. Amendments noted where applicable.]
GENERAL REFERENCES
Vehicles and traffic — See Ch. 107.
This chapter shall be known as "Prohibition of Parking of Commercial Vehicles."
A.
The Town Board of the Town of Plattekill has determined that a local law prohibiting the parking of tractor trailers and other large commercial vehicles meets a very real need to protect citizens' safe travel as well as the Town's rural character.
B.
Specifically, the Town Board hereby finds that there has been a significant number of tractor trailers and other large commercial vehicles parking within the Town of Plattekill along the state, town and county rights-of-way.
C.
The Town Board further finds that the random parking of these commercial vehicles along said rights-of-way poses a significant traffic hazard by blocking sight distances and impeding the safe travel of vehicles and pedestrians, the maintenance of rights-of-way by the various road departments and the travel of emergency vehicles.
D.
The Town Board further finds that the random parking of these commercial vehicles creates an aesthetic nuisance, which is contrary to the Town's, rural character and zoning code,[1] which regulates commercial activity within the Town.
