§ 62-1 General provisions.

The Village of Mazomanie is a body corporate and politic with the powers of a municipality at common law and governed by the provisions of Chs. 61 and 66, Wis. Stats., laws amending those chapters, other acts of the legislature and the Constitution of the State of Wisconsin.

§ 62-2 Official newspaper.

The official newspaper of the Village of Mazomanie shall be designated by the Village Board.

§ 62-3 Wards.

The Village Board of the Village of Mazomanie adopts three wards divided by lines described as follows:
Ward 1: All lands located within the following described area:
Beginning at a point in the center of the intersection of Brodhead Street and US 14 within the Village of Mazomanie; thence north along the centerline of Brodhead Street to an intersection with the centerline of Hudson Street; thence west along the centerline of Hudson Street to an intersection with the centerline of Bridge Street; thence north along the centerline of Bridge Street to an intersection with the centerline of Handel Road; thence east along the centerline of Handel Road to an intersection with the centerline of State Street; thence south along the centerline of State Street to an intersection with the centerline of E. North Street; thence east along the centerline of E. North Street to the easterly boundary line of the Village of Mazomanie; thence east, southeasterly and south along the bordering line of the Village of Mazomanie to its point of intersection with US 14; thence west along the northerly line of US 14 to the Southeast corner of Lot 1 of CSM # 07139 (Dodge County Register of Deeds); thence north, west and south along the perimeter of said Lot 1, to the northerly line of US 14; thence west along US 14 to the point of beginning. Population of Ward 1 is 507 (2010 census data).
Ward 2: All lands located within the fully described areas:
Beginning at a point in the center of the intersection of Brodhead Street and US 14 within the Village of Mazomanie; thence north along the centerline of Brodhead Street to an intersection with the centerline of Hudson Street; thence west along the centerline of Hudson Street to an intersection with the centerline of Bridge Street; thence north along the centerline of Bridge Street to the northerly boundary line of the Village of Mazomanie; thence west, southwesterly and south along the boundary line of the Village of Mazomanie to its point of intersection with the centerline of US 14; thence east along the centerline of US 14 to the point of beginning. Population of Ward 2 is 713 (2010 census data).
Ward 3: All lands lying south of the centerline of US 14, which lands are located within the Village of Mazomanie. Population of Ward 3 is 432 (2010 census data).

§ 62-4 Voter registration.

All electors for all elections shall be required to be registered. The Clerk-Treasurer shall receive applications for registration at his office during regular office hours throughout the year, except that registration may also be completed at Village polling places on election days upon presentation of proper identification and proof of residency. Voter registration may also be completed at the Library or at Wisconsin Heights High School in the office upon presentation of proper identification and proof of residency.

§ 62-5 Election poll hours.

The voting polls in the Village of Mazomanie, Dane County, Wisconsin, shall be opened from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for all elections after May 1, 2004.

§ 62-6 Split shifts for poll workers.

A. 
Pursuant to § 7.30(1), Wis. Stats., the Village of Mazomanie shall allow for the selection of two or more sets of officials to work at different times on election days and permit the Clerk-Treasurer or his/her designee to establish different working hours for different officials assigned to the same polling place. Alternate officials shall also be appointed in a number sufficient to maintain adequate staffing of the polling place(s).
B. 
Pursuant to § 7.30(3)(a), Wis. Stats., the Clerk-Treasurer and Deputy Clerk-Treasurer, as well as the election workers, are authorized to act as tabulators in any election.

§ 62-7 Nonpartisan primary. [1]

The Village hereby elects not to be governed by § 8.05(1), Wis. Stats. From and after the effective date of this section, candidates for elective Village offices shall be nominated by a nonpartisan primary conducted pursuant to § 8.05(4), Wis. Stats. Such candidate shall file with his nomination papers a declaration that he will qualify for the office to which he may be elected. Candidates for Municipal Judge shall file with their nomination papers a statement of economic interests.
