A. The County Executive is hereby directed to pay such sums
as appropriated by the County Council to each of the several volunteer fire
companies in said county to be used for the general maintenance of said volunteer
fire companies in said county, including the purchase and repairing of fire
apparatus and all other equipment of every kind and character; provided, however,
that no payments shall be made to any company or department which has any
resolution or regulations limiting the territory within which it will respond
to calls. The County Executive is further directed to pay such sums as appropriated
by the County Council to each of the several combined ambulance companies
and rescue squads in said county and for those companies operating either
an ambulance company or a rescue squad; provided, however, that no payment
shall be made to any ambulance company and/or rescue squad which has any resolution
or regulations limiting the territory within which it will respond to calls.
Each volunteer fire company and ambulance company receiving any of the above
funds shall submit an annual report to the County Executive, giving a detailed
statement of the expenditures of said fund or funds, and no payment shall
be made to any volunteer fire company or ambulance company or rescue squad
until it shall have submitted such report showing the expenditures of said
fund for the preceding year. Any newly organized volunteer fire company and/or
ambulance company in said county may receive such appropriation at the discretion
of the County Executive with the approval of the County Council of Wicomico
County, upon consultation with the Wicomico County Volunteer Firemen’s
Association.
B. The County may appropriate annually a sum to be paid
to the City of Salisbury to be used for the support of the fire companies
of said city.
