A group of citizens dedicated to the sustainability of the community and known as "the Green Team," appointed by the Township Committee is hereby established. This Green Team is also created as an ad hoc advisory committee to the governing body of the municipality, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:63-7(d).
A. 
To facilitate the successful completion of the requirements for certification of Sustainable Jersey.
B. 
To educate and encourage all Township employees, residents, and businesses to participate in green initiatives.
C. 
To collaborate with public and private green committees to ensure the replication of best practices and to ensure a coordinated effort within Hainesport Township and with neighboring communities.
D. 
Although not a body subject to the Open Public Meetings Act,[1] the Green Team shall designate one of its members as Secretary, who shall keep minutes of all meetings and file same with the Township Clerk following approval of the same by the Green Team.

A. 
The Green Team will consist of no less than five nor more than nine members, but shall nevertheless be an odd number and will include two members of the Hainesport Environmental Commission, one Township Committee member, and the Township Administrator. The team may also include a Joint Land Use Board member and a Public Works employee. The Chairperson of the Green Team shall be appointed annually by the Township Committee.
B. 
The Green Team shall be persons who reside or are employed in Hainesport Township and are to be appointed to terms of three years commencing January 1, 2024. The first Green Team to be appointed January 2024 shall have the following terms, depending on whether the membership consists of five, seven or nine members: if five members, two members for three years, two members for two years and one member for one year; if seven members, three members for three years, two members for two years and two members for one year; and if nine members, four members for three years, four members for two years and one member for one year. Regardless of the size of the Green Team, the Township Committee member assigned to same shall always serve one year and the Township Committee shall annually appoint its member to same.
