[Amended 4-15-2024 by Ord. No. 04-2024]
A.
The hourly rate to be paid to Township police officers performing extra-duty police-related activity for private employers shall be as listed herein.
B.
An estimate of time shall be prepared by the Chief of Police, or his designee, for any requested service. The hourly rate to be paid by private employers to patrol officers and SLEO II officers shall be the overtime rate of top step patrol officer, per hour (or part thereof). The hourly rate for Sergeants shall be the overtime rate of top step sergeant, per hour (or part thereof). The hourly rate for Lieutenants and the Chief of Police shall be the overtime rate of the respective police officer, per hour (or part thereof). All police officers will be paid a minimum of four hours by private employers. All rates are set by current work agreements in place at the time of the extra-duty work being performed. Private employers will be billed a minimum of four hours when work is cancelled with less than three hours' notice. If an outside company is used by the Police Department to manage all police private service, payment shall be received from the outside company for hours worked within two weeks of the private service being performed. If no outside company is used by the Police Department, the contracted party shall provide funds to the Township in the amount of the estimate, to be placed in an escrow account prior to any work being performed. The Township will pay the rate listed above to the member of the Police Department performing the service. An additional $25 per hour fee shall be charged to the private employer and shall be retained by the Township. The $25 fee shall be divided into two portions, $15 for an administrative fee and $10 for a vehicle fee.
C.
In the event the Township Committee authorizes the use of a third-party vendor to administrate police private services, the third-party vendor shall be enabled to charge an additional 6% over the total hourly rate charged to the private employer.
