A.Â
No place of public assembly shall be conducted for
pecuniary gain unless a certificate of compliance shall have been
issued and conspicuously posted therein.
B.Â
The Building Inspector shall ascertain by inspection
whether places of public assembly conform to the requirements of the
State Standard Building Code adopted by the Board of Standards and
Appeals pursuant to Article 17 of the Labor Law of the State of New
York, and if such places are found to so conform, he shall issue a
certificate of compliance to that effect. Such certificate shall be
conspicuously posted on the premises.

Before any certificate of compliance shall be issued
to a place of public assembly erected after October 1, 1922, plans
for such building shall be filed with the Building Inspector for approval,
and such plans shall not be approved unless they conform to the State
Standard Building Code.
The Building Inspector may revoke the certificate
of compliance if the premises are not maintained according to the
provisions of the State Standard Building Code.

The fee for a certificate of compliance shall
be as set from time to time by the Board of Trustees;[1] provided, however, that no fee shall be charged a volunteer
fire company, an organization of veterans or a political subdivision.
