A. 
Installation of an approved sprinkler system meeting the requirements of the National Fire Protection Association is hereby required under any of the following conditions:
(1) 
In all buildings constructed after the effective date of this article.
(2) 
If more than 50% of the square footage of floor space of the existing structure is being renovated.
(3) 
If more than 50% of the square footage of floor space of the existing structure is added to the structure.
B. 
Exemptions.
(1) 
Modular homes and any additions to modular homes will remain exempt from meeting the requirements of the National Fire Protection Association standards.
(2) 
Any application for a building permit filed prior to July 14, 2009, is exempt from these requirements.
