Pursuant to the authority of Section 328 of the Real Property Tax Law, effective upon the filing of this chapter with the Secretary of State of the State of New York, there shall be but one Assessor in the Town of Greenport, to be appointed as provided in Section 310 of the Real Property Tax Law.
Whereby the Town of Greenport elected to retain the office of elective Assessor in accordance with the provisions of former Section 1556 of the Real Property Tax Law is hereby repealed and superseded by this chapter.
The terms of office of all currently elected Assessors of the Town shall terminate on the day this chapter is filed with the Secretary of State of the State of New York.
This chapter shall be subject to permissive referendum in accordance with Section 24 of the Municipal Home Rule Law.[1]
