The position of Court Clerk to the Town Justices is hereby established.
The Court Clerk shall serve under the supervision and direction of
the Town Justices and shall exercise the duties and responsibilities
as assigned by the Town Justices. The position of Court Clerk is classified
as in the "exempt class" pursuant to Civil Services Law § 41(d).
The Town Board of the Town of Greenport is hereby authorized
to appoint an individual who has not taken the civil service examination
to the position of Court Clerk for a term to be served at the pleasure
of the Town Board, upon the advice and consent of the Town Justices
as required by Town Law § 20. The Court Clerk shall be considered
a full-time confidential employee and shall be paid a rate to be established
by the Town Board.
The position of Deputy Court Clerk to the Town Justices is hereby
established. The Deputy Court Clerk shall serve under the supervision
and direction of the Town Justices and Court Clerk and shall exercise
the duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Town Justices and
Court Clerk.
The Town Board of the Town of Greenport is hereby authorized
to appoint an individual who has not taken the civil service examination
to the position of Deputy Court Clerk for a term to be served at the
pleasure of the Town Board, upon the advice and consent of the Town
Justices as required by Town Law § 20. The Deputy Court
Clerk shall be considered a part-time employee and shall be paid a
rate to be established by the Town Board.
