By the adoption of this article, the Town Board of the Town of Deerpark
chooses to establish a Board of Ethics for the Town, pursuant to § 808,
Subdivision 3, of the General Municipal Law of the State of New York.
The words and phrases and definitions of words as used in the New York
State Town Law shall be applied in the enforcement of this article.
The Town Board of the Town of Deerpark hereby establishes a Board of
Ethics for the Town of Deerpark. The Board of Ethics shall have all the powers
and duties of and shall be governed by the same conditions as a county Board
of Ethics set forth in Article 18 of the General Municipal Law of the State
of New York, except that the Board of Ethics of the Town of Deerpark can act
only with respect to the officers, employees and agents of the Town. The members
of the Board of Ethics shall be appointed by the Town Board and will serve
at the pleasure of the Town Board. The Board of Ethics shall consist of at
least three members, a majority of whom shall not be otherwise be officers
or employees of the Town of Deerpark. The Board of Ethics shall include at
least one member who is an elected or appointed municipal officer or employee
of the Town. This article has been created and enacted in order to specifically
supersede any prior organizations or local laws originally creating a Board
of Ethics for the Town of Deerpark.
