This chapter shall be known as the "Electrical Inspection Ordinance of the Town of Ontario, New York."
New York Electrical Inspection Agency, Commonwealth Electrical Inspection Service, Inc., and the Middle Department Inspection Agency, Inc., by their officers and employees, are hereby authorized and deputized as electrical inspectors of the Town, to make inspections and reinspections of all electrical installations heretofore and hereafter described and to approve or disapprove the same. In no event, however, will the cost or expense of such inspections or reinspections be a charge against the Town.
A. 
It shall be the duty of the electrical inspectors to report, in writing, to the Code Enforcement Officer.
B. 
The electrical inspectors shall make inspections and reinspections of electrical installations in and on properties in the Town upon the written request of the Code Enforcement Officer or as herein provided.
C. 
The electrical inspectors are authorized to make inspections and reinspections of electrical wiring, installations, devices, appliances and equipment in or on properties within the Town where any such Electrical Inspector deems it necessary for the protection of life and property.
D. 
In the event of an emergency, it is the duty of an Electrical Inspector to make electrical inspections upon the oral request of an officer of the Town.
E. 
It shall be the duty of the electrical inspector to furnish written reports to the Code Enforcement Officer and owners and/or lessees of property where defective electrical installations and equipment are found upon inspection.
F. 
The electrical inspector shall authorize the issuing of a certificate of electrical compliance when electrical installations and equipment are in conformity with this chapter. A copy of such certificate shall be filed with the Code Enforcement Officer within one business day after issuance.
A. 
It shall be a violation of this chapter for any person, firm or corporation to install or cause to be installed or to alter electrical wiring for light, heat or power in or on properties of the Town until an application for inspection has been filed with a duly appointed electrical inspector. It shall be a violation of this chapter for a person, firm or corporation to connect or cause to be connected electrical wiring in or on properties for light, heat or power to any source of electrical energy supply prior to issuance of a temporary certificate of electrical compliance or a certificate of electrical compliance by a duly appointed electrical inspector.
B. 
A violation of this chapter shall be an offense punishable by a fine not to exceed $250 or by imprisonment for a term not to exceed 15 days, or both.
