This article shall be known and may be cited
as the "Animals and Fowl Law of the Village of Pleasantville."
As used in this article, unless the context
or subject matter otherwise requires, the following terms shall have
the meanings indicated:
ANIMAL
Includes but is not limited to bees, pigeons, poultry, fowl,
ducks, geese, swine, goats, sheep, lambs, horses, mules, ponies, donkeys,
snakes, cattle, monkeys, rabbits, chinchillas, mink, skunks, foxes
or any other animals or reptiles except domesticated pets.

DOMESTICATED PET
Any cats, animals, birds, reptiles or fish customarily kept
in the home or place of residence which are not vicious, dangerous
or otherwise obnoxious, objectionable or offensive.

OWNER
Any person who harbors or keeps an animal.

Any person who harbors or keeps an animal or
domesticated pet within the village shall be deemed to have committed
a nuisance which is a violation of this chapter if such animal or
domesticated pet:
A. Injures or threatens injury to persons or other animals
or domesticated pets.
B. Injures property, including lawns, gardens, flowers,
shrubs and trees.
C. Upsets or otherwise interferes with garbage receptacles.
D. Is found in any commercial establishment without the
consent or permission of the owner thereof.
E. Is kept or placed by its owner under cruel, unsanitary
or abandoned or otherwise inhumane conditions.
F. Shall be found on property other than that of its
owner without the consent of the property owner.

No person shall permit any animal or domesticated
pet as defined in this article to run at large in or upon any public
street or place in the village.
No person shall keep or harbor within the village,
within 300 feet of any dwelling, any hogs, pigs, swine, cattle, goats
or sheep.
