Maintaining liaison with the Secretary and Department
of State, pursuant to Article 6-A of the Executive Law, entitled "Services
to Localities," and to avail the Village of Port Chester of the services and
benefits set forth in Article 6-A of the Executive Law.
Maintaining liaison with the Commissioner and the Department of State, pursuant to the provisions of Article 4 of the Commerce Law, and cooperating with said agencies for the purpose of promoting coordination as to economic development and other benefits set forth in said Article 4 of the Commerce Law.
The Economic Development Commission shall be comprised
of seven members appointed by the Board of Trustees, who shall meet monthly
or whenever a meeting is called by the Board of Trustees, Chairman of the
Commission or any two Commission members petitioning the Commission for a
meeting.
The terms of members shall be three years, except that
the original appointments shall be made as follows: two members for one year,
two members for two years and three members for three years. A term shall
commence May 1 and terminate April 30 three years later.
The Chairman shall be elected by the Commission members
annually at a reorganization meeting to be held at the annual May meeting
or as shortly thereafter as possible.
The Commission may make recommendations to the Board
of Trustees for the purposes of initiating and amending legislation benefiting
or encouraging the improvement of the economy.
The Board of Trustees may refer applications, requests
and actions which affect business and economic development to the Commission
for its study and recommendations.
The Commission shall upon request of the Board of Trustees,
investigate and explore activities of county, state and federal organizations
concerned with economic development.
