Definitions of terms. As used in the Code of the Village
of Manlius, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated,
unless the context clearly indicates another meaning or unless otherwise
specifically provided in another chapter of the Code or another law
of the village:
BOARD or VILLAGE BOARD
The governing body of the Village of Manlius, consisting
of six elected Trustees and an elected Mayor.
CLERK or VILLAGE CLERK
The municipal officer of the Village of Manlius, duly appointed pursuant to law to fulfill the duties of Clerk, as prescribed by Article
IV of the Village Law and by applicable laws adopted by the Board. The offices of Clerk and Treasurer may be combined or occupied by two different people at the discretion of the Board of Trustees.

CODE
The Code of the Village of Manlius as adopted by the Village
Board through this local law, and as subsequently amended. The Code
contains all village legislation of a general and permanent nature,
except as may be otherwise provided by this local law or by the Village
Board.
COUNTY
The County of Onondaga, State of New York.
MAYOR
The chief executive officer of the Village of Manlius, elected pursuant to law to fulfill the duties prescribed by Article
IV of the Village Law and by applicable laws adopted by the Board.
MONTH
A calendar month, unless otherwise specifically provided.
OWNER (APPLIED TO A BUILDING OR LAND)
Includes any part owner, any corporation, joint owner, tenant
in partnership, joint tenant or tenant by the entirety of the whole
or of a part of such building or land.
PERSON
Any natural person, partnership, firm, association, corporation,
utility, governmental agency or other entity capable of being sued.
Whenever used in any section prescribing and imposing a penalty, the
term "person," as applied to associations, shall mean the partners
or members thereof, and as applied to corporations, the officers thereof.
PUBLIC PROPERTY
Real property owned and/or operated by the Village of Manlius.
SEMIPUBLIC PROPERTY
Privately owned real property used by or open for use by
the public. This shall include, though not by way of limitation, retail
establishments, school property and unused or agricultural lands.
STREET
Includes a highway, road, avenue, court, public lane or alley;
and it shall also be construed to include a sidewalk or footpath unless
the contrary is expressed or unless such construction would be inconsistent
with the manifest intent of the Village Board.
TREASURER or VILLAGE TREASURER
The municipal officer of the Village of Manlius, duly appointed pursuant to law to fulfill the duties of Treasurer, as prescribed by Article
IV of the Village Law and by applicable laws adopted by the Board. The offices of Clerk and Treasurer may be combined or occupied by two different people at the discretion of the Board of Trustees.
