The territory served shall be the territory
of the Village of Sands Point, Long Island, New York, as outlined
by the Village boundaries.
The rules and ordinances of the Village are
a part of the contract for water supply to each consumer. The Village
desires to deal fairly and equitably with each and every consumer
and requests that these rules be observed and bills paid promptly.
[Amended 3-22-2022 by L.L. No. 5-2022]
Bills for water rents will be mailed triannually, but the Village
does not guarantee the delivery of any bill. Consumers should therefore
make payment at the office of the Village, whether or not the bills
are received.
[Amended 8-28-2001 by L.L. No. 6-2001]
When conveying property, it is important to
have bills for all water rents due paid timely, and also to notify
the Village of the name and address of the new owner so that future
bills can be properly charged.
Service pipes from the street to buildings should
be laid four feet six inches below the surface of the ground to avoid
all danger of freezing.
Consumers are responsible for keeping their
water pipes and all fixtures connected therewith in good repair and
protected from frost at their own expense. They should provide a stop
and drain valve, to be properly located inside the building, and have
the pipes so arranged that the water can be drawn from them wherever
and whenever there is danger of freezing.
A vacuum valve should always be used in connection
with a copper boiler.
[Amended 8-28-2001 by L.L. No. 6-2001]
The Village Water Department is located on Governor's
Lane, where water consumers may confer with a representative of the
Village on water supply matters during business hours. Emergency calls
at night or outside of business hours should be made to the Village
Police Department.
