Appropriate uses of historic structures shall include, but not be limited
to, town, school district and Somers Historical Society sponsored events and
small concerts, readings, children's story hours, dramatic presentations,
historic tours, church services (but not more than two per organization per
year), weddings and other small events as approved by the town. The town reserves
the right to deny any application for a permit or to revoke any permit issued.
A permit for the use of any historic structure shall be obtained from
the Superintendent of Parks and Recreation Department (or designee).
All permittees shall sign a hold-harmless statement, and all organizations,
churches and businesses shall provide the town with a certificate of insurance
with general liability limits of $1,000,000 naming the town as an additional
insured.
The permittee shall be responsible for the following conditions:
A. That the consumption of alcoholic beverages on the premises
is prohibited.
B. That smoking on the premises is prohibited.
C. That no food or drink be served inside either Tomahawk
Chapel or Mount Zion.
D. That the structure and grounds be left in the same condition
as found.
E. That the permittee be responsible for any and all damages
to the structure and/or grounds during use.
F. That, in the case of Mount Zion, occupancy is limited
to the first floor, total occupancy not to exceed 50 people, and for Tomahawk
Chapel, not to exceed 50 people.
