Notwithstanding the provisions of § 24
of Article 3 of the Town Law, the term of office of the Highway Superintendent
in the Town of Thompson elected at the election in November 1969 and
of all Highway Superintendents in the Town of Thompson elected thereafter
shall be four years.
This article shall be subject to a mandatory
referendum and be submitted therefor in compliance with the provisions
of § 23, Subdivision 1, of the Municipal Home Rule Law[1] and shall become effective when filed in the office of
the Secretary of State and as otherwise provided in § 27
of said law.
