There is hereby established a Local Assistance Board for the Borough of Park Ridge pursuant to the General Public Assistance Law, N.J.S.A. 44:8-107 et seq.
A. 
The Local Assistance Board shall be composed of three persons, at least one of whom shall be a woman, who shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of Council.
B. 
Members of the Local Assistance Board shall serve without compensation but shall be allowed their necessary and actual expenses.
C. 
One member of the Local Assistance Board may, at the pleasure of the governing body, be appointed from among the membership of the Council of the borough.
A. 
The terms of the members of the Local Assistance Board shall be as follows:
(1) 
The term of any member appointed from among the membership of the Council shall be for one year.
(2) 
The term of any other member shall be for two years.
(3) 
The terms of the members shall expire in alternate years.
B. 
The term of each member of the Board shall begin on the first day of January, and each member shall continue in office until his or her successor shall be appointed and shall qualify.
Vacancies on the Board shall be filled for the unexpired terms only.
A. 
Officers. The Board shall organize and select a Chairman and a Secretary and shall appoint a Director of Welfare, who shall be the first executive and administrative officer of the Board.
B. 
Director of Welfare.
(1) 
The Director of Welfare shall hold office for a term of five years from the date of his or her appointment and shall be paid such salary as may be fixed by the Board subject to the approval by the Mayor and Council. In case of a vacancy in the office of the Director of Welfare, one temporary or acting director may be appointed to serve for not more than 90 days.
(2) 
The duties of the Director of Welfare shall be as set forth in N.J.S.A. 44:8-118 et seq.
