The purpose of this article is to establish the office of Administrative Officer, Planning and Zoning, so that responsibility for the processing of land use applications, development plans and zoning or planning interpretations may be processed through one individual, other than the Township Clerk, and said officer shall thereby discharge the duties delegated to the Administrative Officer as defined and outlined within the provisions of the Land Use Laws of the State of New Jersey, N.J.S.A. 40:55D-1 et seq., and as provided for in the Development Regulations of Pennsauken Township, Chapter 141 of the Code of the Township of Pennsauken.
The Administrative Officer, Planning and Zoning, shall discharge those governmental and ministerial functions and responsibilities as provided for under the Municipal Land Use Law of New Jersey and the Development Regulations of Pennsauken Township aforesaid. These duties shall include, but shall not be limited to:
A. 
He or she shall receive and process applications for land development, including subdivisions, conditional use permits, variances, special exceptions and interpretive decisions under the Zoning and Planning Codes of Pennsauken Township and the Municipal Land Use Law (N.J.S.A. 40:55D-1 et seq.).
B. 
He or she shall work under the direction of the Township Administrator and in conjunction with the Municipal Planning Board and the Municipal Zoning Board of Adjustment and shall be directly responsible to the Township Committee of Pennsauken and the Municipal Administrator.
C. 
He or she shall perform the duties of Administrative Officer as defined in the Municipal Land Use Law and those of the Planning and Zoning Coordinator, under Chapter 141 of the Pennsauken Township Code.
D. 
He or she shall attend the regularly scheduled meetings of the Municipal Planning and Zoning Boards and perform such inspections that may, in his or her discretion, be incidental to an appropriate understanding of land use applications of all kinds.
E. 
He or she shall perform any other duties or functions which are necessarily implied or reasonably appropriate to the discharge of the office.
The Administrative Officer, Planning and Zoning, shall be compensated in accordance with the Salary Ordinance[1] of the Township of Pennsauken designating the position as one of Assistant to the Township Administrator - Planning and Zoning Coordinator of Pennsauken Township.
