Pursuant to Section 11 of the Uniform Fire Safety
Act (P.L. 1983, c. 383; N.J.S.A. 52:27D-192 et seq.), the New Jersey
Uniform Fire Code shall be locally enforced in the Township of River
Vale.

The local enforcing agency shall be the Bureau
of Fire Prevention of the Township of River Vale.
The local enforcement agency shall enforce the
Uniform Fire Safety Act and the codes and regulations adopted under
it in all buildings, structures and premises within the established
boundaries of the Township of River Vale, other than owner-occupied
one- and two-family dwellings, and shall faithfully comply with the
requirements of the Uniform Fire Safety Act and the Uniform Fire Code.
The local enforcing agency established by §
112-2 of this article shall carry out the periodic inspections of life-hazard uses required by the Uniform Fire Code on behalf of the Commissioner of Community Affairs.

The local enforcing agency established by §
112-2 of this article shall be under the direct supervision and control of the Fire Marshal, reporting to the Mayor.
Pursuant to Sections 15 and 17 of the Uniform
Fire Safety Act (N.J.S.A. 52:27D-206 and 52:27D-208, respectively),
any person aggrieved by any order of the local enforcement agency
shall have the right to appeal to the Construction Board of Appeals
of the County of Bergen.

A. The annual registration fee for life-hazard uses shall
be as follows, or as amended in the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code,
N.J.A.C. 5:70-2.9(a).
B. Application fee. The application fee for a permit
shall follow the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code 5:70-2.9(c), or as amended
by the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code.

The intent of this article is to require smoke-sensitive
alarm devices and carbon monoxide detectors in certain structures
used for residential purposes in accordance with P.L. 1991, c. 92,
as codified at N.J.S.A. 52:27D-192 et seq. and the regulations promulgated
thereunder.
In accordance with the provisions of P.L. 1991,
c. 92, the Fire Prevention Bureau shall be the enforcing agency for
this article.
As set forth at N.J.A.C. 5:70-2.3, before any
structure used or intended to be used for residential purposes by
not more than two households is sold, leased or otherwise subject
to a change of occupancy for residential purposes, the owner shall
obtain a certificate of smoke and carbon monoxide detector compliance
(hereinafter "CSDCMAC") from the Fire Prevention Bureau.

A. Request for a CSDCMAC received more than 10 business
days prior to the change of occupant: $45.

B. Request for a CSDCMAC received four business to 10
business days prior to the change of occupant: $90.

C. Request for a CSDCMAC received fewer than four business
days prior to the change of occupant: $161.

D. If a further inspection is necessary, the application
fee for said further inspection shall be $15.
The provisions of P.L. 1991, c. 92, and the
regulations promulgated thereunder, as said statute and regulations
may be amended from time to time, are incorporated herein as though
set forth at length. In the event of an inconsistency or conflict
between the provisions of this article and the provisions of said
statute or regulations, the provisions of said statute or regulations
shall apply.
