Pursuant to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 40:87-15, as amended, the Office of Deputy Treasurer be and the same hereby
is created.
The Deputy Treasurer shall be nominated and, with the advice and consent
of the Council, appointed by the Mayor for the term of one year commencing
January 1 of the year in which said appointment is to be effective and until
his successor is appointed and qualifies.
Said Deputy Treasurer shall, before entering the duties of his office,
take and subscribe to an oath and deliver his bond to the municipality conditioned
for the true and faithful performance of his duties all as provided by law.
Said Deputy Treasurer shall possess and perform all of those powers
and duties possessed and performed by the Treasurer; in addition, he shall
perform such duties as the governing body shall by ordinance or resolution,
from time to time, direct and shall be responsible directly to the governing
body for the true and faithful performance of all of his duties.
In furtherance of the performance of his duties, the power is conferred
on the Deputy Treasurer to sign and countersign all checks and warrants to
the same extent that that power is conferred on the Treasurer, and all checks
and warrants shall be signed or countersigned by either the Treasurer or the
Deputy Treasurer, in addition to such other persons whose signatures are required
by law.
The salary of the Deputy Treasurer shall be such as shall be fixed from
time to time by the governing body by ordinance and shall be in lieu of any
and all fees and costs.
