Fines are based on payment being made to the Borough of New Hope within 240 hours after the date and time of the notice of violation being issued. Fines are determined by the Borough Council through the Borough Fee Schedule. This payment to New Hope Borough will save the violator from prosecution and from payment of the additional fines and processing fees described in § 259-105 of this article.

Notwithstanding the above, any person who violates any provision of this chapter with regard to parking and who fails to pay the base fine as set forth in § 259-104 of this article within the 240-hour period from the time of the violation shall be notified by a violation letter, sent first class mail, that a fine and penalty equal to the base fine for the violation plus a late payment penalty as determined by the Borough Council through the Borough Fee Schedule. If the payment of the base fine and the penalty is not received within 240 hours from the date of the notice, the violator or registered owner shall be cited and, upon conviction, be required to pay the increased fines and penalties due.

In lieu of any penalties set forth in this chapter, any person who violates any provision of § 259-56 or 259-70 of this chapter shall, upon conviction, be required to pay a fine as determined by the Borough Council through the Borough Fee Schedule, or in default of payment thereof, shall be subject to imprisonment for a term not to exceed 30 days.
