[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Supervisors of the Township of Chartiers 7-21-1994 by Ord. No. 221. Amendments noted where applicable.]
The Chartiers Township Planning Department is hereby created. The Planning Department shall be comprised of the Chartiers Township Zoning Officer and Planning Coordinator, who shall be known as the Director of Planning. The Planning Department shall be advised by the Township engineers and Solicitor as required.
The Planning Department shall, at the request of the Chartiers Township Board of Supervisors, have the following powers and shall be required to:

Prepare, recommend, and administer subdivisions and land development and planned residential development regulations;[1]

B. 
Maintain and keep on file records of its actions, which such records shall be in possession of the Board of Supervisors;
C. 
Review applications for conditional uses and make recommendations on the same to the Board of Supervisors.
The current Planning Commission is hereby abolished.

A new Planning Commission is hereby established, which will consist of five members. The members of the Planning Commission shall be appointed by the Board of Supervisors in accordance with the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code.[1]

The Planning Commission shall be known as "the Chartiers Township Planning Commission."
The Chartiers Township Planning Commission shall, at the direction by resolution of the Chartiers Township Board of Supervisors:
A. 
Prepare the Comprehensive Plan for the development of Chartiers Township as required by the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code[1] and present it to the Board of Supervisors for its consideration;

B. 
Maintain and keep records of its actions, which such records and files shall remain in possession of the Board of Supervisors;
C. 
Make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors concerning the adoption or amendment of an official map;
D. 
Prepare and present to the Board of Supervisors of Chartiers Township a Zoning Ordinance and make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on proposed amendments to it or set forth in the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code;
E. 
Hold public hearings and meetings;
F. 
Review the Zoning Ordinance, subdivision and land development ordinances, official maps, provision for planned residential development, and such other ordinances and regulations governing the development of land no less frequently than it reviews the Comprehensive Plan.[2]

The Planning Commission shall hold public meetings and make recommendations to the Chartiers Township Board of Supervisors at the direction by resolution of the Board of Supervisors.
The Director of the Planning Department and the members of the Planning Commission, in the performance of their functions, may enter upon any land to make examinations and surveys with the consent of the owner.
