Whoever, with the intent that a crime be committed, agrees or combines with another for the purpose of committing that crime may be subject to a penalty as provided in § 290-26, if one or more of the parties to the conspiracy does an act to effect its object.

Whoever is convicted of conspiracy shall be fined or jailed or both not to exceed the maximum penalty for the completed crime.
