The purpose of this district is to provide an
area for residential development within rural areas, which are not
agricultural in nature, that may or may not be served by public sewer
and water systems or where public facilities may not feasibly be extended.
The standards set out in this article shall apply in the district.
The following principal uses are permitted in
the R-R District:
The following principal structures are permitted
in the R-R District:
A. Single-family houses, excluding mobile homes.
B. Park and playground related structures.
The following accessory uses are permitted in
the R-R District:
A. Private storage of motor vehicles.
B. Home occupations, as detailed in Article
XXIV (Home Occupations).
C. Horticulture.

D. Limited poultry raising. Poultry raising in residential districts
will be limited by DAFS regulations. If no regulations or explicit
zoning regulations exist, limited poultry raising may only occur if
the resident/owner has an approved poultry raising site plan and permit
approved by DAFS that is recorded with Land Management Department.

E. Limited apiculture. Apiculture in residential districts will be limited
by DAFS regulations. If no regulations or explicit zoning regulations
exist, limited apiculture may only occur if the resident/owner has
an approved apiculture site plan and permit approved by DAFS that
is recorded with Land Management Department.

The following accessory structures are permitted
in the R-R District:
B. Gardens and DAFS-approved community gardens.

C. Noncommercial greenhouses, barns, poultry coops, bee hives, storage
sheds, and playhouses.

D. DAFS-approved season-extending structures. Approval shall be through
DAFS regulations. If no regulations or explicit zoning regulations
exist, season-extending structures, except for noncommercial greenhouses,
may only be used if the resident/owner has a site plan describing
the use approved by DAFS that is recorded with Land Management Department.

The following conditional uses may be allowed in the R-R District, provided that the requirements of Article
XXIII (Conditional Use Permits) are met:
A. Single mobile homes on separate, individual lots.
B. Planned unit development.
C. Low-density multifamily residential.
D. Governmental and religious uses.
E. Public recreational activities, including golfing,
tennis, and swimming.
F. Public and private schools.
G. Nursery schools and day-care centers.
The following structures may be allowed in the R-R District under conditional use permit issued pursuant to the provisions of Article
XXIII (Conditional Use Permits):
B. Structures for planned unit development.
C. Duplexes and quad-plexes.
D. Governmental structures such as police and fire stations,
libraries, and town halls.
E. Public recreational structures, including swimming
pools, tennis courts, and golf courses.
F. Schools and ancillary structures.
G. Structures utilized for religious purposes, including
convents, parish houses and other buildings integral to the functioning
of religious organizations.
H. Public and quasi-public utility structures not covered by Article
XXIX (Modifications, Exceptions and Special Requirements).
I. Nursery schools and day-care centers.
The following lot, height, and yard requirements
are established for the R-R District:
A. Yard requirements.
(1) Lot area. Lot area shall be a minimum of 20,000 square
feet.
(2) The minimum lot width shall be 100 feet.
B. Maximum height. The maximum height for the principal
structure shall be 35 feet and for an accessory structure 20 feet.
C. Setbacks.
(1) The minimum highway setback shall be regulated under Article
XVIII (Highway Access and Setbacks).
(2) The minimum side yard setback for all residential
structures shall be 20 feet and for an accessory structure five feet.
(3) The minimum rear yard setback shall be 25 feet for
a principal structure and five feet for an accessory structure.
(4) No accessory structure may be located in a required
front yard except for noncomposting gardens.

(5) Side yard setback on corner lots shall be 25 feet.
D. Lot, height, and yard requirements for conditional
uses. Lot, height, and yard requirements for structures and uses under
conditional use permits shall be incorporated into said permits.
The following regulations shall apply within
the R-R District:
A. Article
XXVI as pertaining to parking.
B. Article
XXVII as pertaining to the placement and use of signs.
C. Additional permitted uses.

(1) Recreational camping. Recreational camping and/or use shall be an
additional permitted use. The following restrictions shall apply:
(a)
Recreational camping shall be permitted if a person has a recreational
land use assignment.
(b)
Any restrictions or requirements set out in Chapter
610, Land Use Assignments; Article
I, Recreation, of Chapter
275, Camping.
(c)
Any restrictions or requirements required by the land use assignment.
