This chapter shall apply to all outdoor fires and burning within
the incorporated limits of the Village and is adopted pursuant to
the Village Law, General Municipal Law and Municipal Home Rule Law
of the State of New York.
The Board of Trustees of the Village of Monticello hereby finds
that the outdoor burning of surplus wood, rubbish, debris, leaves
and any and all other materials constitutes a hazard to the public,
and the potential for personal injury and unintended property damage
by fire or smoke is greatly increased. The aim of the Board of Trustees
is to eliminate the potential hazards created by the aforedescribed
actions.
Except for outdoor fires for cooking, which fires are confined
to a grill, barbecue or pit, all outdoor burning is prohibited within
the Village of Monticello.
