This article shall cover all Township employees.
In compliance with the Drug Free Workplace Act
of 1988 (Pub. L. 100-690, Title V, Subtitle D), the Township of Greenwich,
County of Gloucester, State of New Jersey, has established the following
policy.
Drug and alcohol screening is and may be performed
as part of a Township of Greenwich Pre-Employment Interview.
The manufacture, distribution, dispensing, possession
or use of a controlled substance is prohibited in the workplace.
Each employee shall abide by the terms of this
statement and must notify the employer of any criminal or disorderly
drug statute conviction for a violation occurring in the workplace
no later than five days after such conviction.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development shall be notified within 10 days after receiving notice under §
120-8 from an employer or otherwise receiving actual notice of such conviction. Employees violating this prohibition will be charged accordingly and hearings held to determine disciplinary action to be taken (discipline up to and including termination of employment) or requiring satisfactory participation in an approved rehabilitation program.
The Township of Greenwich has an established
drug-free awareness program for all its employees and each employee
is or has been given a copy of the Drug-Free Workplace regulation.
