The following terms wherever used herein shall have the respective meanings assigned to them:
MOTORIZED BICYCLE
A pedal bicycle having a helper motor characterized in that either the maximum piston displacement is less than 50 cubic centimeters or said motor is rated at no more than 1.5 brake horsepower, and said bicycle is capable of a maximum speed of no more than 25 miles per hour on a flat surface. This definition shall expressly include vehicles commonly known as "mopeds."
PRIVATE PROPERTY
All lands located in the Township of Greenwich not defined herein as public property and not a part of any roadways used for public transportation.
PUBLIC PROPERTY
Lands owned or leased by the Township of Greenwich, specifically including sidewalks but specifically excluding any roadways used for public transportation.
It shall be unlawful to operate a motorized bicycle under the following circumstances:
A. 
On private property of another without the express written permission to do so by the owner and lessee, if there be one, of said property. The driver of such a vehicle shall keep such written permission on his or her person and furnish a copy thereof upon request by any member of the Police Department of the Township of Greenwich.
B. 
On public property without express provisions or permission to do so by the public authority having jurisdiction over said property.
C. 
In a manner so as to create loud, unnecessary or unusual noise so as to disturb or interfere with the peace and quiet of other persons.
Any person convicted of violating any of the provisions of this article shall be subject to a fine not exceeding $500 or imprisonment in the County jail for a term not exceeding 90 days, in the discretion of the Judge before whom such conviction shall be had.
