The Planning Commission of the Town is hereby designated as the Planning and Zoning Commission.
The Planning and Zoning Commission shall have all the powers and duties of both a planning commission and a zoning commission under the laws of the state, except the power vested in a planning commission by C.G.S. § 8-29 to make assessments of benefits and damages.

The Planning and Zoning Commission shall be comprised of nine members elected for four-year terms in accordance with § 4-11 of the Town Charter.
Any vacancy in the membership of the Planning and Zoning Commission occurring by reason of the expiration of the term of office of any member at some other time than at a biennial Town election shall be filled by the remaining members of the Commission for a term expiring at the next following biennial Town election. All other vacancies in the membership of the Commission shall be filled by the remaining members of the Commission for the unexpired portion of the term of office of the vacating member.

Pursuant to Connecticut General Statutes § 22a-354o, the Town of Ridgefield assigns all aquifer protection rights, duties and obligations to the members of the Inland Wetlands Board as elected November 5, 2019.
