The following words or phrases when used in
this chapter shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section
except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning.
BASIC STREET NUMBER
The last one, two or three digits in all presently existing
Township street numbers.
STREET
Any road, highway, avenue, street, parkway, lane or other
way, public or private, set aside and commonly used by the public
for street purposes and shown upon the official Township map of Whitehall
Township.
TOWNSHIP
The First Class Township of Whitehall, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania.
WARD OR WARDS
The former, originally existing five wards of Whitehall Township, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, as
set forth and delineated on the official Whitehall Township map on
file in the office of the Mayor at the Whitehall Township Municipal
Building, which wards are more commonly known and designated as:
A.
First Ward or Fullerton Ward.
B.
Second Ward or West Catasauqua Ward.
C.
Third Ward or Hokendauqua-Stiles Ward.
D.
Fourth Ward or Egypt Ward.
E.
Fifth Ward or Cementon Ward.

All designated street names in all five original
Whitehall Township wards shall be and continue to remain the same.

On and after the effective date of this chapter,
subject only to the exceptions and qualifications hereinafter set
forth, all houses, buildings, structures and places of business in
Whitehall Township shall be numbered and identified in accordance
with the following Whitehall Township master street numbering system:
A. The First Ward (Fullerton).
(1) All existing street numbers in the original First
Ward shall keep and retain their present one, two or three digit basic
street number identity.
(2) No four digit street number in the original First
Ward shall be of a series higher than number 1999.
(3) All original First Ward street numbers shall therefore
be in the series from number 0001 to number 1999.
B. The Original Second Ward (West Catasauqua).
(1) All original Second Ward street numbers shall be of
four digits and be in the series from number 2000 to number 2999.
(2) All original Second Ward street numbers shall keep
their present basic one, two or three digit identity and shall conform
to the new four digit number 2000 to number 2999 series by appropriately
adding sufficient digits to the basic street number.
C. The Original Third Ward (Hokendauqua-Stiles).
(1) All original Third Ward street numbers shall keep
their present basic one, two or three digit number 3000 to number
3999 series by appropriately adding sufficient digits to the basic
street number.
D. The Original Fourth Ward (Egypt).
(1) All original Fourth Ward street numbers shall be of
four digits and be in the series from number 4000 to number 4999.
(2) All original Fourth Ward street numbers shall keep
their present basic one, two or three digit identity and shall conform
to the new four digit number 4000 to number 4999 series by appropriately
adding sufficient digits to the basic street number.
E. The Original Fifth Ward (Cementon).
(1) All original Fifth Ward street numbers shall be four
digits and be in the series from number 5000 to number 5999.
(2) All original Fifth Ward street numbers shall keep
their present basic one, two or three digit identity and shall conform
to the new four digit number 5000 to 5999 series by appropriately
adding sufficient digits to the basic street number.
F. Exceptions. The foregoing master street number system
includes all street numbering in Whitehall Township except:
(1) The street numbering system presently in existence
for MacArthur Road (LR 555) from the southern Township boundary line
to the northern Township boundary shall not be in any way changed
or affected.
(2) On any boundary street of an originally existing ward,
both sides of such boundary street shall be considered for street
numbering as being in the lower-numbered ward.
(3) The Mayor is hereby authorized and directed at the
request of the Post Office Department to make further exceptions to
the aforesaid master street numbering system in order to make the
system workable.

It shall be the duty of the owners and occupants of every house, building, structure or place of business in the Township to have placed thereon, in a position to be plainly legible and visible from the street or road fronting the property, approved numbers at least four inches high with a minimum stroke width of one-half inch showing the street number of the house, building, structure or place of business as hereinbefore described (§
4-3 of this chapter). Address numbers shall be Arabic numerals or alphabet letters and shall contrast with their background.

Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate
any provision of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced
to pay a fine of not more than $1,000 plus costs and, in default of
payment of said fine and costs, to a term of imprisonment not to exceed
30 days. Each day that a violation of this chapter continues shall
constitute a separate offense.
The owners of properties in the Village of West
Catasauqua, Whitehall Township, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, are hereby
authorized and directed to number all their houses in said village
as the same are located on the streets as indicated on the blueprint
hereto attached marked "Consolidated Plan formerly the property of
the heirs of Joshua Miller, C.D. Fuller & Catasauqua Real Estate
Ass'n, also Trone's, Whitehall Twp., Lehigh Co., PA," as follows:
A. The Main Street on said plan shall be the dividing
line between streets running north and south on said plan and such
streets shall be numbered beginning with said Main Street, the odd
numbers to be on the east side thereof and the even numbers on the
west side thereof.
B. The dividing line between the streets running east
and west shall be Lehigh Avenue, and such streets shall be numbered
beginning with Lehigh Avenue, the odd numbers being on the north side
thereof and the even numbers on the south side thereof.
There shall be a number for every lot of 30 feet or less, for every street as the same are located on said plan, (§
4-6 of this chapter) and the numbering of said houses and lots shall be under the supervision and direction of the Township Engineer and all such numbering shall be as he directs.

A. The thoroughfare known as MacArthur Road in the Township
of Whitehall, County of Lehigh and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, from
Sumner Avenue on the south, being the dividing line between the City
of Allentown and the Township of Whitehall, to Columbia Street on
the north, shall be numbered in accordance with the plans identified
as "Exhibit A" of Ord. 773. Said Exhibit A is a numbering plan for
MacArthur Road as prepared by A.L. Wiesenberger Associates, Inc.,
Consulting Engineers, for the Township of Whitehall and dated November
9, 1964, and February 5, 1965 (W-1648).
B. All buildings located along said MacArthur Road shall
be numbered in accordance with said numbering plan as identified in
Exhibit "A", pages 1, 2, and 3 inclusive.

A. A numbering plan for a subdivision plan known as Mickleys
Gardens in the Third Ward of the Township of Whitehall, County of
Lehigh and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as designated upon the plan
identified as Exhibit A is hereby adopted. Said numbering plan for Mickleys Gardens
was prepared by A.L. Wiesenberger Associates, Inc., Consulting Engineers
and dated November 9, 1964 (W-1648).
B. All lots or buildings located within the subdivision
plan of Mickleys Gardens shall be numbered in accordance with the
numbering plan as indicated upon Exhibit A.
