There shall be a Traffic and Pedestrian Safety
Committee to advise the City Council and other entities on traffic
and pedestrian safety issues in the City of Rye.
The Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Committee
shall consist of not less than seven nor more than 11 members to be
appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Council. The members
shall continue in office until the expiration of their terms, and
thereafter their successors shall be appointed for terms of three
years from and after the expiration of the term of their predecessors
in office. The Mayor shall designate from amongst any of the members
the Chair of the Committee. Vacancies occurring otherwise than by
expiration of term shall be filled by the Mayor with Council approval.
The members of the Committee shall choose from their number a Vice
Chairperson and Secretary. In their work the Committee may utilize
the assistance of additional volunteers interested in traffic and
transportation issues. The City Manager, President of the Board of
Education, and the Superintendent of Schools or their representatives
shall serve as ex officio members of the Committee.
