The Town of New Milford hereby adopts the provisions of and invokes the option provided by § 12-144c of the Connecticut General Statues relating to the waiver of any property tax due in an amount less than $5, or such other limit as may be set from time to time by amendment to the aforesaid § 12-144c of the Connecticut General Statues. The payment of any property tax due the Town of New Milford in an amount less than $5 or such increased limit pursuant to an amendment to the aforesaid § 12-144c of the Connecticut General Statues shall hereby and hereafter be waived, and the Office of the Tax Collector of the Town of New Milford shall be authorized to adjust its records accordingly.

The Tax Collector is authorized to retain any payment made in excess of the total tax amount due, provided that such excess amount is less than $5 or such increased/decreased dollar limit as set forth in General Statutes § 12-129 and provided such excess amount so retained shall be applied as a credit toward the next tax payment due to the town.
