[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Village
of Nissequogue 7-18-1989 by L.L. No. 6-1989. Amendments noted where
applicable.]
The Nissequogue River, Smithtown Bay and Stony Brook Harbor
are the locations of important recreational resources; they also contain
extensive fish and wildlife habitats of local and statewide significance.
The Village of Nissequogue, with the Village of Head-of-the-Harbor,
has entered into a Local Waterfront Revitalization Program under the
New York State Coastal Management Program, which includes a commitment
to protect and conserve the natural resources of the Nissequogue River,
Smithtown Bay and Stony Brook Harbor. The discharge of wastes into
waters from vessels or from the shore or the disposal into the waters
of any kind of refuse is inimical to the well being of the Nissequogue
River, Smithtown Bay and Stony Brook Harbor and their continued existence
as a valuable resource.
