Editor's Note: Section One of this local law provided for the repeal of former Chapter 8, Assessors, adopted 2-15-1971 by L.L. No. 1-1971.
The Town of Johnstown previously exercised its option to retain the three offices of elective Assessor pursuant to former § 1556 of the Real Property Tax Law. The Town Board now desires to change to a single appointed Assessor as provided by the Real Property Tax Law Article 3.
From and after October 7, 1985, there shall be but one assessor for the Town of Johnstown. The single Assessor shall be appointed by the Town Board as provided by the Real Property Tax Law § 310. The terms of office of all Assessors now in office shall terminate on October 7, 1985.
This chapter shall become effective immediately upon filing with the Secretary of State.
