The office of Construction Official is hereby created. The term of the Construction Official
shall be for one year from January 1 of the year in which he is appointed
and until his successor is appointed and qualifies. The Mayor and
Council may, by a majority vote, remove such official for cause after
reasonable notice and hearing.
The Construction Official shall have the right, and it shall
be his duty, to inspect all buildings in course of construction, erection,
alteration or repair, and, also, any and all buildings or structures
which he has reason to believe may be unsafe or dangerous, and, also,
at all proper times to enter upon private property and the buildings
thereon for the purpose of making necessary inspection for the proper
enforcement of the various ordinances of this Borough and the laws
of this state applicable thereto. No person shall interfere with him
in the performance of such duties or prevent him from making any inspection
during reasonable hours.
The Construction Official shall, in addition to the duties herein
specifically enumerated, perform such other duties as may from time
to time be prescribed by a resolution of the Mayor and Council.

The Construction Official shall receive such salary as is set
forth in the current annual Salary Ordinance of the Borough of Edgewater.
