No personal property shall be sold at auction in the City of
Glens Falls unless such sale is conducted by an individual who has
applied for and obtained an auctioneer's license from the City
Clerk.
It shall be unlawful to conduct an auction sale of personal
property on any public property within the City of Glens Falls without
the specific permission of the Mayor, which permission shall be granted
only in the case of a sale being conducted for a public or charitable
purpose.
The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to:
A. Auction sales conducted by trustees or referees in bankruptcy, executors,
administrators, receivers or public officers acting under judicial
process.
B. The sale of real property at auction.
C. Sales conducted by residents of the city for the purpose of selling
their goods or property and not as a business.
Any person violating the provisions of this chapter shall, upon
conviction thereof, be subject to a fine not to exceed $250 or to
imprisonment for a term not to exceed 15 days, or both.
