Pursuant to Section 17.1-281(C) of the Code of Virginia (1950), as amended, there shall be assessed a sum of $3 as part of the costs in each civil action filed in the district and circuit courts, and in each criminal and traffic case conviction in which the defendant is charged with a violation of any statute or ordinance in the district and circuit courts located within the boundaries of Warren County, Virginia; provided, however, that such fee shall not be assessed as part of the filing fee in any civil action if the amount in controversy is $500 or less.
This assessment shall be collected by the Clerk of the court in which the action is filed or the conviction and fees assessed, and remitted to the Treasurer of Warren County and held by the Treasurer subject to disbursements by the Warren County Board of Supervisors for the construction, reconstruction, renovation, or adaptive reuse of a structure for a courthouse, pursuant to Section 17.1-281 of the Code of Virginia (1950), as amended.
The assessment provided for herein shall be in addition to all other costs and fees prescribed by law.
