This article is adopted pursuant to the provisions of Section
7-148(c)(7)(D)(i) and (ii) of the Connecticut General Statutes and
for the purpose of public safety, convenience and welfare, and for
the prevention of cruelty to animals.
It shall be unlawful for any person to carry or display any
noncaged snake upon any public street, sidewalk, park or other public
place of the municipality, except for educational purposes when approved
by the Animal Control Officer for the Town.
For the purpose of this article, a "cage" shall be defined as
a frame or place completely closed in on all sides with wires, bars,
or other material sufficient for the secure confinement of the snake.
A first-time violation of this article shall result in a fine
of $25. Subsequent violations shall each result in a fine of $100.
