Unless the context specifically and clearly indicates otherwise,
the meaning of terms used in this part shall be as follows:
BUILDING SEWER
The extension from the sewage drainage system of any structure
to the lateral of a sewer.
COMMERCIAL UNIT
Refers to a property which is intended to be used or which
is used for the purpose of carrying on a trade, business, profession
or for social, religious, educational, charitable or public use.
CONNECTION UNIT
Each individual building or house, whether constructed as
a detached unit or as one of a pair or row, which is designed or adaptable
to separate ownership for use as a family dwelling unit or for commercial
or industrial purposes. A school, factory, apartment house, office
building or other multiple-unit structure whose individual apartments
or units are connected to a common internal sewage system, and which
are not commonly subject to separate ownership, shall be considered
as one connection unit.
IMPROVED PROPERTY
Any property within the sewered area upon which there is
erected a structure intended for continuous or periodic habitation,
occupancy or use by human beings or animals and from which structure
sanitary sewage and/or industrial waste shall be or may be discharged.
INDUSTRIAL UNIT
A property which is intended or used in whole or part for
the manufacture, fabrication, processing, cleaning, laundering, conversion
or assembly of any product, commodity, article or thing.
LATERAL
That part of the sewer system extending from a sewer to the
curbline or from a sewer to an alley line or, in the case of sewers
constructed within easements, from the sewer to the edge of the easement.
NOTICE
Any notice required hereunder shall be made by either personal
service by a Township official or by certified mail, return receipt
requested.
OWNER
Any person vested with ownership, legal or equitable, sole
or partial, of any property located in the sewered area.
PERSON
Any individual, partnership, firm, company, corporation,
association, joint-stock company, trust, estate, governmental entity
or any other legal entity, or their legal representatives, agents
or assigns. The masculine gender shall include the feminine, the singular
shall include the plural where indicated by the context.
PLUMBING CODE
The Plumbing Code of Spring Garden Township, adopted by Ord. 16-67, dated October 11, 1977, as from time to time revised, amended or superseded (see now Chapter
120, Article
II).
RESIDENTIAL UNIT
Each private dwelling; each dwelling unit in a double house
or in a row of connecting houses; each apartment; each room, group
of rooms, mobile home or enclosure occupied or intended for occupancy
as separate living quarters by a family or group of persons living
together or by person or persons living alone; which unit is connected
to the sewer system and from which sanitary sewage is or may be discharged
into the sewer system.
SANITARY SEWAGE
The type of toilet and other water-carried waste normally
discharged from residential properties. It shall include wash water
and tap water from any sink.
SEWER
Any pipe or conduit constituting a part of the sewer system
used or usable for sewage collection purposes.
SEWERED AREA
That portion of the Township in which there shall be constructed
a sewage collection system, as from time to tine constructed and extended
by the Township or others, and that part of areas outside the Township
in which sewers are or shall be constructed which connect to the sanitary
sewer facilities of the City of York and Springettsbury Township.
SEWER SYSTEM
All facilities, as of any particular time, for collection,
pumping and disposing of sanitary sewage and industrial waste, situated
in the Township sewered area and owned and/or operated by the Township.
STREET
Includes any street, road, lane, court, alley and public
square.
TOWNSHIP
Spring Garden Township, York County, Pennsylvania. Notice
from the Township, when required herein, may be made by the Township
Manager or the Solicitor for the Township or any other person authorized
by the Board of Commissioners.
TOWNSHIP
The Township of Spring Garden, York County, Pennsylvania,
or, as the context may require, the Board of Commissioners (in connection
with matters requiring action of the Board) or such officers or employees
of the Township as are authorized to act for the Township in the premises.
