The i-District Design Standards for the Central Business (CB)
District shall be applied to all properties within the i-District
that are zoned as part of the Central Business (CB) District, including
new construction as well as any alteration to an existing building
or site. The intent of these Design Standards is to facilitate the
vision identified in the Johnson City BOA/i-District Master Plan.
The purpose of these standards is to promote the quality, livability,
walkability, and innovation of downtown Johnson City and the i-District.
The standards are intended to protect the existing historic character
while developing high-quality building and site designs that improve
the attractiveness of the i-District as well as the health, safety,
and economic prosperity of the community.
The demolition of any structure within the Central Business
District shall be considered an unlisted action under SEQR. Site plan
approval of a proposed redevelopment plan for the property must be
obtained prior to the issuance of a demolition permit. Relief from
this provision may be granted by the Planning Board if the structure
is deemed a safety hazard by the Code Enforcement Officer.
