A system of numbering properties and principal buildings is
hereby adopted for use in the Borough of Northampton:
A. There shall be no R.D. numbers, box numbers or duplication of Borough
street names; no similarities of Borough street names (to include
neighboring municipalities, if possible).
B. No half numbers or alphabetic letters for house numbers (except for
those existing).
C. Road center line used as dividing line in most cases.
All properties or parcels of land within the corporate limits
of the Borough of Northampton shall hereafter be identified by reference
to the numbering system. (As many of the original identification names
and numbers will remain as possible.) This number shall be known as
the "street address number." Property owners shall be required to
notify all tenants of the assignment of the street address number
and shall be required to obtain multiple numbers in case of multiple
occupancy. Property owners shall also be responsible for the placement
of display.
The Borough Zoning Officer or delegate shall assign to any property
owner within the Borough of Northampton, upon request and without
change, the street address number for each principal building as appropriate.
This chapter shall be enforced by the Zoning Officer.
Any person violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall
be given notice of violation and 30 days to correct said violation.
If the violation is not corrected within 30 days, then the person
violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall be prosecuted
and, upon conviction, be fined not more than $500, and in default
of payment of fine and costs, be imprisoned not more than 90 days,
and each and every day the violation continues after such person has
been notified thereof by certified mail, arrest or any other personal
service, shall be deemed a separate and distinct violation.
